COURSES - ACLS/PALS
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are advanced training courses for Healthcare Providers. These courses are designed to enhance their skills in treating victims of respiratory and cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies, while earning their American Heart Association Course Completion Card.
ACLS PREPARATION COURSE
This course is designed for those individuals who are interested in successfully completing an American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider course. The ACLS provider course is an advanced course designed for medical professionals who have a strong understanding of cardiac rhythms and pharmacology. The ACLS Prep. Course can assist in preparing you for the provider course. Course curriculum includes review of the cardiac electric conduction system, recognition of life threatening dysrhythmias, cardiac pharmacology, and insertion techniques for various airway devices used in ACLS. Certificate of completion provided.

ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS)
ACLS course curriculum emphasizes strong knowledge and skills in the areas of ECG interpretation, invasive techniques, medications, therapeutic modalities, electrical therapy of cardiac dysrhythmias and advanced airway management. This course does not include BLS Certification or BLS Re-certification. Refer to BLS schedule for class dates. Skills proficiency and written testing are required to receive certification. Re-certification is only available to students who are currently certified at the time of the class. Those students must bring their current card to class in order to participate in a re-certification course. An American Heart Association ACLS card will be issued upon successful completion of this course.
Mandatory precourse preparation includes:
1.
Complete the precourse checklist that came with your ACLS
Provider Manual. Bring the checklist with you to the course.
2.
Review and understand the information in your ACLS Provider
Manual. (Pay particular attention to the 10 core cases.)
3.
Review and understand the information on the BLS for Healthcare
Providers manual. All students will be tested in CPR in the ACLS
course. You will not be taught how to do CPR or how to use an
AED. You must know this in advance.
4. Review, understand, and
complete the precourse assessment test online (code is found
inside the ACLS textbook to access online).
5. Print your scores for the precourse
assessment tests and bring them with you to class. You will not
be able to attend this course without the precourse assessment
tests.
What This Course Does Not Cover: The ACLS Provider Course does not teach algorithms, ECG, or pharmacology information. If you do not learn and understand the ECG and pharmacology information in the precourse assessment tests, it is unlikely that you can successfully complete the ACLS Provider Course. An ACLS Prep class is highly recommended.

PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS)
PALS course curriculum emphasizes strong knowledge and skills in the areas of ECG interpretation, invasive techniques, medications, therapeutic modalities, electrical therapy of cardiac dysrhythmias and advanced airway management in patients under 8 years of age. Re-certification is only available to students who are currently certified at the time of the class. Those students must bring their current card to class in order to participate in a re-certification course. An American Heart Association PALS card will be issued upon successful completion of this course.

1.
Complete the precourse checklist that came with your PALS Course
Guide. Bring the checklist with you to the course.
2. Be
prepared to pass the child 1-rescuer CPR/AED and infant 1- and
2-rescuer CPR skills test. You will not be taught how to do CPR
or how to use an AED during the course. You must know this in
advance. The resuscitation scenarios require that your BLS
skills and knowledge are current.
3. Print your scores for the precourse
assessment tests and bring them with you to class. You will not
be able to attend this course without the precourse assessment
tests.

Use of these materials as an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course material, do not represent income to the Association.
***CANCELLATION POLICY: If you cancel 8 days or more from the date of the class, you will receive a complete refund. If you cancel 7 days or less, or you do not show up to the course, you are not eligible for a refund, but may transfer to another course one time only which must be approved by a LFTC staff member.
