AIRWAY MANAGEMENT
In this course, you will learn all the necessary skills to effectively manage an airway. This course will cover topics such as, respiratory assessment, non-invasive airway adjuncts, advanced airway adjuncts, suctioning, medications, use of oxygen, humidity and more. You will become familiar with all the various equipment you may use to maintain an adequate airway in your patients.
ALLERGIES ON THE RISE & ANAPHYLACTIC EMERGENCIES
It is currently estimated that up to 40% of people suffer from allergies at one time or another. In this course, we will discuss several different theories on the rise of allergies. You will also learn about different types of allergies, presentation fo both mild and severe reactions, treatment options, and how to rapidly assess and treat patients in an Anaphylactic Crisis.
ASTHMA ON THE RISE
Did you know that 1 in every 14 American adults suffer from asthma, and this number is growing. It is predicted that by the year 2020, the number of people affliceted will rise to nearly 20 million. In this 6 hour course we will explore such aspects as the etiology of asthma, the rise in the number of asthmatics, new and old treatments, the importance of assessment and treatment, as well as prevention of attacks and educating patients and family members about the disease.
AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES
Autoimmune Diseases are thought to affect approximately 14-22 million people in the United States. In this course, you will learn about many of these conditions and the physical, emotional, social, and fiscal burden they place on those affected, and the country's healthcare system as a whole.
WHAT TO DO DURING A CODE BLUE
You are sitting in the nurses' station whiting the final notes in the charts as your shift comes to an end. Without warning, the alarm goes off on the monitor. You look up and realize the alarm is ringing for your patient. You rush to their room and discover that your patient is unresponsive and not breathing. Your heart begins to race as you push the code button. What comes can be quite frightening to even the most experienced provider. In this course we will go over all the aspects of working a code, such as review of ABC assessment, basic and advanced airway techniques, defibrillation, medications, and dealing with family members. We will also practice working as a team in code scenarios. This is a great course for anyone who has ever had anxiety regarding the possibility of a code.
DEALING WITH DEATH
As a Healthcare Provider, you are faced with many difficult situations. Dealing with the death of one of your patients is never easy. In this course, you will learn how to communicate and provide appropriate support to patients and their family members. You will also learn the effects of death on Healthcare Providers after the loss of a patient and how to deal with these situations.
(GEMS) GERIATRIC EDUCATION CERTIFICATION
The proportion of the aged in society today is greater than ever before, and growing faster than any other segment of our population. Current indications are that approximately 34% of calls for emergency medical services, or 3.4 million emergency responces involve patients over the age of 60. GEMS represents the most credible and complete source of perhospital medical information for older adults, using case-based lectures, live action video, hands-on skill stations and small group scenarios.
ALL ABOUT OB
Whether you currently work with pregnant women, or if you have no OB experience at all, this program is for you. Course Curriculum will include: normal fetal development from a single cell organism to a fully developed fetus, causes of poor fetal development, changes in a woman's body during pregnancy, possible complications of pregnancy and delivery, medical conditions in the mother that may effect pregnancy, normal labor and delivery, and newborn assessment and care.
PATIENT ASSESSMENT
This course is a great opportunity to sharpen your patient assessment skills. You will learn how to make immmediate and thorough assessments in patients complaining from a wide list of conditions, including shortness of breath, chest and abdominal pain, altered mental status, and the trauma patient.
RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS IN THE WORK PLACE
Working in Healthcare you will come in contact with many different people. In this course, you will learn about carious personality types and apply this knowledge to improve yout communication skills with patients, patient family members, co-workers, supervisors and your own family and friends.
