Beyond Lockdown Workshop (Active Shooter Preparedness Training)

Active shooter incidents, in many cases, have no pattern or method to the selection of victims, which results in unpredictable and quickly evolving situations. As is true in emergency situations, knowledge and training in regards to preparedness is vital.

The goal of this training is to enhance preparedness and response to an active shooter situation and provide awareness of actions that can be taken before, during, and after an incident. Course information is based on the current recommendations of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Every schools Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP) should include courses of action that will describe how students and staff can most effectively respond to an Active Shooter situation to minimize the loss of life. Schools are responsible for teaching and training on these practices. If a school district fails its duty to protect students from injury and an appropriate standard of care was not used, the district can be found negligent. Schools have a duty to protect their students. This program is also recommended for businesses, places of worship and other organizations.

Our Beyond Lockdown program aims at giving organizations the tools for better planning, and preparation which may help to reduce the likelihood of an active-shooter event occurrence in a workplace or school. If an event was to occur, steps learned in this program may minimize the negative impact of such an incident.
